What Was CCENT?

CCENT (Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician) was formerly a standalone entry-level Cisco certification. It covered the basics of networking including IP addressing, routing fundamentals, and basic switch configuration.

The Modern CCNA

In 2020, Cisco restructured its certification program. CCENT was retired, and CCNA was updated to be a more comprehensive single exam (200-301) covering networking fundamentals, IP services, security fundamentals, automation, and programmability.

Which Should You Study?

Today, the answer is clear: study for the CCNA 200-301. It is the industry-recognised entry-level networking certification and is the starting point for all Cisco career paths including CCNP and CCIE.
